Kooralbyn 11th August 2013
With an early start on a beautiful Sunday morning, a group of 12 or more bikes headed out to Kooralbyn markets for a rendezvous with the local scout group to help with some much needed fundraising. We had the easy task of riding the loop unlike the intrepid “first timers” climbing aboard the thundering machines for what was for most, the first time on a motorcycle ever!!. Old and young alike queued for their turn and at first the Spyders seemed to be favoured With Popeye and Adell being the flavour of the moment. As the day progressed we all began getting punters on board. It was great to see such a good turnout of members supporting the ride as well as partners doing all the ticket sales and organising the riders for what turned out to be a well run operation.
The event was well supported by the locals and it gave them an insight to what Mt Lindesay branch is all about, not just a bunch of bikers roaming the streets harassing old ladies!!!! In general this raised their awareness to the “good side” of the greater motorcycle riding fraternity.
The day wasa great success with the event raising $250.00 for the scout group and this was presented to their leader at lunchtime and again we were proud to be a part of this adventure.
Saying farewell to the locals, we headed back to Veresdale hotel for some much needed rehydration and lunch and the days ride wrapping up around 2.00pm. Congratulations to Popeye for arranging this adventure and we all had a very enjoyable day.
PS A special Hooray to all those who backed up from the Mater Little Miracles walk on Saturday What a huge effort. We bumped into Sergent Terry Armstrong at the Pub and he was absolutely brimming with pride and commendation for the effort our members put into the event, raising $9000.00 for the children.
